THE CABO DE HORNOS
ONE OF THE MAYOR ACCIDENTS INVOLVING THE KONINGIN EMMA BRUG

In February 1946 the Cabo de Hornos hit the Queen Emma Bridge and damaged it considerably. Some pontoons were torn of, the railing got hit and the ship even penetrated the road surface a few meters.

January 1889, the first accident involving the Koningin Emmabrug. It was the mail boat “Prinses Wilhelmina” which, coming from Bonaire, collided with the bridge. The damage was minor and the bridge was repaired within weeks.
