“Amstel Bierbrouwerij Curaçao” (Amstel Brewery Curaçao) was founded on 2 April 1958 by J.A.J Sprock and the Amstel Brewery N.V. Amsterdam. It was the only brewery in the world using 100% distilled water from seawater. The brewery had to close its doors in 2005 due to financial losses and competition from bigger breweries in the region.
