1960 FIRST TV CHANNEL
In 1952 the first license for television broadcasting in Curaçao was granted to R. C. Bos Verschuur, Operations Chief of “Landsradio- en Telegraafdienst” (National Radio and Telegraph Service), who experimented with a military installation and had a lot of success with periodic broadcasts. On 20 August 1957 the Government of the Netherlands Antilles granted a license to “NV Nederlands Antilliaanse Televisie en Electronische Maatschappij” (Dutch Antillean Television and Electronic Company N.V. or N.A.T.E.C.). The Antillean government took over this company in 1965 and started operations under the name “Antilliaanse Televisie Maatschappij NV” or ATM (Antillean Television Company NV). ATM was the holding company of the broadcasting stations Tele Curaçao and Tele Aruba. Tele Curaçao started broadcasting in Curaçao on 31 July 1960.
