CURAÇAO’S NATIONAL FLAG
The national flag was designed by Martin den Dulk in 1984. The government of Curaçao organized a competition to choose the national flag that would represent the island. Martin den Dulk was one of the many participants but his interpretation of the flag won the judges over. He won the competition and his flag became the national flag of Curaçao.
The blue background of the flag symbolizes the sea and the sky. The yellow band represents the bright sun which bathes the islands. The two stars in the left hand corner represent Curaçao and Klein Curaçao, the much smaller uninhabited island south-east of Curaçao that is part of the country of Curaçao.
