S.E.L. Maduro & Sons had just recently become trade agents of Pan American Airways and wanted to promote this event with this flight.

Their New York director, S.E.L. Maduro (“Momon Lau”) had arranged this flight as part of a publicity campaign. Charles Lindbergh became world famous for his crossing of the Atlantic from New York to Paris, the first transatlantic flight, in May 1927. Lindbergh was welcomed by Governor Brantjes and S.A.L. ("Mongui") Maduro.
